( China Daily ) Updated: 2012-10-12 13:31:53

Yu Lanyin is staging her first solo exhibition tour in China to show her colorful contemporary ink paintings of the world under the sea.

Yu has created a unique ink-painting style using various techniques, including rubbing, spilling and splattering to layer her works. Yu has been a scuba diver since 1985 and hopes people who feel the beauty of the ocean described in her paintings can cherish it more and take action to protect the planet's precious resources.

Yu's exhibition will run in Guangzhou until Oct 22 and head to Beijing Nov 3-27. US oceanographer Sylvia Earle, who set a record for solo diving to a depth of 1,000 meters, will come to Yu's Guangzhou exhibition on Oct 14 and give a lecture on oceanic issues.

3:30 pm for Earle's lecture on Oct 14. 9 am-7 pm for the exhibition, until Oct 22. EMG Art Center, C5, Redtory, 128 Yuancun Siheng Lu, Tianhe district. 020-3866-3122.
