The artistic style of xieyi in classical Chinese ink painting continues to influence artists today, whatever mediums they now work with.

Inheritance in Context, an exhibition now at Beijing's Today Art Museum, shows how oil painters of modern time inject the spirit of xieyi into the canvas. To achieve the same carefree feeling as their ancestor painters did, artists travel a lot sourcing inspiration from the changing landscapes across the country.

The exhibition teams up leading artists, including Fan Di'an, Dai Shihe and Hong Ling.

It runs until May 6 and will tour other cities afterward.
