Shendan to bring about revolution in nationwide egg processing

In most Chinese agricultural trade markets, eggs are sold without being cleaned or numbered. However, Hubei Shendan Healthy Food Co., Ltd became the first domestic enterprise to produce clean eggs in Hubei procince and enact a local standard for "cleaning eggs". It is expected to bring about a revolution in the egg industry of Chinese market.

Egg cleaning was started in the UK in the 1950s and in America in the 1970s, when the eggs could be sold only after they had first been cleaned. Meanwhile, Japan and Australia also made regulations to sell cleaned eggs. The first of them began to be sold in Hubei province on October 1, 2009.

Presently, the company has built a constant temperature preserving workshop and standard egg processing workshop to guarantee the eggs’ security. The company has imported the world's most advanced cleaning eggs processing line and automatic shelling line. Each egg is numbered with its production time, which offers convenience for consumers to confirm the eggs’ security.

Shendan has built up various sales networks all over the country. Its products are sold in more than 10,000 supermarkets of Carrefour, Metro and Wal-mart. It is the only egg products enterprise which has signed a sales agreement with all of the country’s three retail giants. Its products are also exported to Japan, Korea, America, Australia and other countries. In 2007, Shendan became a clean eggs supplier to KFC and McDonald's, and "National Best Supplier" of Carrefour and Wal-mart.

Shendan runs on the basis of a "company + farmer + standardizition" model. It founded a breeding base of 1,000,000 quails in Anlu city, and for 2,000,000 chickens, and 2,000,000 ducks in the Anlu city surrounding area.

Together with Huazhong Agriculture University, Shendan established the first domestic egg products research centre in 2006, which can check for drugs and heavy metal residues. Shendan also passed the ISO9001:2000 certification, HACCP certificationand export registration. Its six products obtained a "green food" certificate.

Nevertheless, most of the eggs produced in the company are only sold in supermarkets for the sake of its price which is above the average egg price. The eggs produced are expected to be sold in common agricultural trade markets in the near future, which will bring about a revolution in the egg processing industry of China.

The company’s leading products are preserved eggs, salted eggs, marinated eggs, cleaned eggs, egg sausage, and boiled egg.
