Art beat in December

Moldova orchestra

The Moldova National Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform in Beijing and Shanghai under the baton of conductor Gheorghe Mustea. The pieces include Dvorak's Symphony No 9 From the New World, Johann Strauss' The Blue Danube and the Ballsirenen Waltzes from The Merry Widow of Franz Lehar.

Swan Lake

Ukraine's Kiev Ballet Theater, also known as the National Ballet of Ukraine, will perform Swan Lake in Beijing. Founded in 1867, the established ballet company currently has 24 ballets in its repertoire, one of the largest in the world. Under the leadership of renowned choreographers Serguey Sergueev and Vakhtang Vronskiy, it has become one of the most respected ballet groups in the world.

Love musical

Art beat in December

A Chinese version of the musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is being staged through early January. The play, with a book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, is recognized as the second-longest running Broadway musical. It has four actors, presenting 16 episodes of urban love affairs.

Symphony concert

The Shanghai Symphony will present a concert under the baton of director Yu Long. The program consists of Bamboo Flute Concerto No 2 Wildfire by Guo Wenjing, Piano Concerto No 20 in D minor by Mozart, The Love for Three Oranges suite by Prokofiev and Luan Tan by Chen Qigang.

Russian pianist

Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva, top winner at the 2010 Chopin competition and the first woman to win the title, will give a recital of Chopin's pieces in the city.
