Socks hung out in Hangzhou's new 'art zone'

On the most chic road in Hangzhou, fiber artworks made of knitting wool, socks and cloth such as huge spiders, a bird’s nest and a hand were on display in the trees, turning the natural space into an exhibition area and attracting lots of visitors.

According to Shan Zeng, professor from the Sculpture Department of the China Academy of Art and also an initiator of this activity, it is fun to combine fiber art and the living environment. Shan and over 20 post graduate students started to prepare for the exhibition a week ago. The idea of dressing up the border trees won out over the 30 other proposals.
