Foreign criminals, whose identities cannot be independently verified, will be transferred to prosecuting authorities with the names they provided, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
The ministry revised the provisions on the procedure for handling criminal cases in accordance with the newly amended Criminal Procedure Law, which will officially take effect on Jan 1, 2013.
According to the revised procedures, Chinese police will follow relevant international conventions, such as seeking help through International Criminal Police Organizations or other international police cooperation channels to identify foreign suspects.
If there is no way to verify their identities, they will be charged under the names they provided.
