Written lineage in intangible cultural heritage cross-year exhibition kicks off

The Our Characters - Written Lineage in Intangible Cultural Heritage Cross-year Exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Culture’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Department and the National Library of China, kicked off at the National Museum of Classic Books. Wang Fuzhou, deputy director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department, and Han Yongjin, the director of the National Library of China, attended the exhibition. Twenty-one intangible cultural heritage inheritors also were present.

The exhibition was divided into six sections, including Chinese character generalization, character writing, character transmission, character and art, character and life and character inheritance and future. The exhibition showed the historical changes and current situation of the development of the character, especially the connotation and charm from the Chinese character associated with the intangible cultural heritage project. The exhibition displayed more than 300 documents and inheritors’ works. Wang said the exhibition covered the origin and development of text to today's use, and includes more than 10 species disappeared China traditional characters from various ethnic groups.
