Man donates blood 147 times to save wife

Xu Wenwu, a resident of Changchun city in Jilin province, has made more than 147 blood donations over the past 10 years.

Xu did this for his wife Wang Xiaoying, who suffers from anemia and myasthenia, as the blood donation policy allows spouse of the donator to use blood for free if they donate blood for certain times.

Xu and Wang got married in 1995. In 2003, Wang fell down due to anemia. Xu was told Wang would have to get blood transfusion frequently. The husband, an electrician, struggled to afford the fees for his wife's medical care until later learning the policy of blood donation and went regularly to give blood.
