An oil leak on the runway at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport forced flights to divert to Karamay on Wednesday morning, China Civil Aviation Online has reported.
Airport officials said three feeder flights from Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region were diverted to land at Karamay.
By 2:06 pm the three flights had each managed to land at Urumqi airport.
One flight from Karamay to Urumqi, GS7572 of Tianjin Airlines, was delayed for 42 minutes.
The air distance between Karamay and Xinjiang's capital Urumqi is 289 km. Flights usually take 40 minutes.
