BEIJING - Senior Chinese leaders Jia Qinglin and Li Changchun on Friday watched a classic Chinese drama staged to mark the diamond jubilee of the founding of a renowned public theater.

"Teahouse", a classic play written by Chinese literary master Lao She, was considered "classic among classics" in China and a repertoire of the Beijing People's Art Theater, which was founded on June 12, 1952 in central Beijing.
Jia and Li, both members of the the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged performers to make their arts meet the people's spiritual needs and to push forward greater cultural development and prosperity.
