'Hometown diplomacy' between Chinese and foreign leaders

Medvedev visited Hefei on October 23, 2013.

Although Li didn't accompany Medvedev, he enjoyed the trip and said he was impressed with the long history and rapid developing economy of Anhui province.

During Medvedev's trip he visited the Institute of Plasma Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Bao Gong Temple.

He also delivered a speech at the University of Science and Technology of China, saying that Russia is willing to create favorable conditions for cultural and academic exchanges between students of the two countries.

"You've been to my hometown. You are a friend of the people there," Li said when he visited Moscow in 2014.
