The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank's board of governors approved the applications of three African countries - Benin, Djibouti and Rwanda - at its fourth annual meeting in Luxembourg on July 13, taking the total number of members to 100.
On Feb 2, the United States announced it would withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty alleging that Russia had violated the 1987 agreement to eliminate the two countries' land-based ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and missile launchers in the short range (500-1,000 kilometers) and intermediate range (1,000-5,500 km).

The World Trade Organization's Appellate Body ruled against the United States on Tuesday in a 2012 case brought by China to challenge US anti-subsidy tariffs on Chinese exports, saying the US did not fully comply with a WTO ruling and could face Chinese sanctions if it does not remove certain tariffs that break WTO rules.
