Xinjiang has been an important hub of economic and cultural exchanges between the East and West, and a place where many civilizations and religions have intermingled since ancient times. The ethnic cultures of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, nurtured in the lap of Chinese civilization, have strengthened exchanges with the culture of the Central Plains over thousands of years. As a result, a unique culture has developed in Xinjiang.
In ancient times, Xinjiang was known as the Western Regions, a Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 220) term for the area west of Yumenguan in Gansu province. After the incorporation of the Western Regions into China by the Han rulers, Xinjiang began its integration process with the rest of China. Early this month, Iran announced its stockpile of uranium has surpassed the 300-kilogram limit and its enrichment level is above 3.67 percent, suggesting it is set to go back on the other commitments it had made while signing the deal.
Among the remarkable achievements of the People's Republic of China in the 70 years since its founding is the nine-year compulsory education system.
