BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing on Sunday with his Myanmar counterpart U Wunna Maung Lwin.

U Wunna Maung Lwin is accompanying Myanmar President U Thein Sein on a state visit to China from June 27 to 30.

Both of the foreign ministers agreed to implement the progress of President U Thein Sein's ongoing visit, and make joint efforts to carry forward bilateral friendship, facilitate large cooperation projects and cement the China-Myanmar partnership.

They also reached consensus on China-ASEAN cooperation and speeding up various cooperation proposals.

The two ministers believed disputes regarding the South China Sea should be settled through direct dialogue and consultation.

China and ASEAN should jointly safeguard regional peace and stability, they said.
