Flying wing to wing: A proposal with a twist

In Chinese we describe affectionate couples by saying they "fly wing to wing". A 25-year-old post-graduate student in central China took it literally and used two planes to propose to his girlfriend - and of course, there was a happy ending, CFP reported.

Song Qixuan and his 23-year-old girlfriend, Lu Yan, both first-year post-graduate students at Central South University, on Saturday took a free flight in a pair of light planes flying wing to wing in Changsha, capital of Hunan province. After more than 10-minutes in the air, Song presented a bunch of flowers to propose to Lu, who movingly said yes.

The inspiration for the special proposal came from his girlfriend, according to Song. Lu once said: "We are both from ordinary families. I hope our love is simple rather than extravagant. What I want is to fly wing to wing with you (like lovebirds)." Song took it to heart and managed a free proposal in the air.

The romantic flights were funded by a local private aviation company, Xiangjun Navigation Co.
