4、The 14th Beijing International Book Fair

From 30 August to 3 September, the 14th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) took place in the exhibition halls No.1 and No.8 of China International Exhibition Center.

This BIBF enjoys a larger exhibition area, increased from 26 000 square meters to 34 000 square meters, by 35%, compared with the former sessions. The whole exhibition area is divided into three parts: the domestic area, the overseas area and the specific area. Among them, there are 863 domestic exhibition stands, increased by 35% compared with the previous one. Meanwhile, 530 domestic exhibitors will participate in the BIBF, up 11% from the previous one. In order to support the development of western regions, China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Corporation has decided to provide free stands to the publishing houses from Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai province.

Therefore, this BIBF covers publishing houses from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under central government of the whole country (except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) for the first time. There are 600 overseas exhibition stands, up 9% from the previous one, and 920 overseas exhibitors, up 7% from the previous one. The publishing houses come from 56 countries and regions, instead of 50 ones at the previous BIBF, among them 6 countries of Asia and Africa for the first time, namely, Bangladesh, Oman, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
