The first China Will Registration Center opened in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, on Wednesday, chinanews.com reported.

The center offers a free service for over 60s living in Guangdong province including consulting, registration and safe keeping of documents.

They can book and register a will at the center with their ID card and the original will document.

Chen Kai, management committee chief of the China Will Registration Center, said the branch will also benefit people who live in Hong Kong and Macao after a system upgrade. So far the center can only accept Chinese mainland IDs to register.

The China Will Registration Center has been running since March 2013. More than 20,000 wills have been made and kept at the center, among which about 100 have been acted upon, Chen said.

The branch will use the same registration system as in Beijing and Tianjin including scanning finger prints, recording videos, scanning and archiving paperwork, witnessing and sealing the will.
