Five jobs have been identified as those most likely to be the best-paying occupations over the next five years and beyond. The upcoming five-year plan approved by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party shows the trend.

Software engineer:

China's "Internet Plus" strategy, which aims to boost the productivity of traditional sectors by taking advantage of the Internet, is a key focus. The strategy is expected to generate a greater demand for experts in big data and software engineering, said Zhao Peng, former CEO of zhaopin.com. "The plan provides broader development space for the career," Zhao said.

Hardware engineer:

Innovation is a key facet of the next five-year plan. The rapid development of smart devices is expected to create more job opportunities in the field. Technology upgrading within production processes will increase productivity and profitability of goods and services.

Nurse and house cleaner:

More newborns after the "one-child" policy has been eased are likely to create more employment opportunities for nurses, maids and those in related fields.

Designers:

Innovation in the industrial and services industries will bring more job opportunities in various design fields, especially for the highly skilled. In the next five years, industrial design, fashion design, web design and graphic design are likely to experience rapidly growth.

Farmers:

Agricultural modernization over the next five years will bring new opportunities. Profound and extensive reforms in the traditional sector will allow professional farmers to operate large farms and boost productivity, Zhang Weiguo, director of the Shandong Academy of Social Economic Research Institute.
