SHENZHEN - A man stabbed a person to death and injured another 12 at a farmer's market in the southern metropolis of Shenzhen on Saturday morning, according to local police.
The incident happened at about 8 a.m. in Longgang District. It is alleged that the man, 32, had been involved in a family dispute and had set fire to his own house, burning himself, before heading to the market armed with a kitchen knife, according to the police.
He attempted to take his own life by setting fire to a bottle of petrol after the stabbing but was stopped by the police.
None of the injured sustained life-threatening injuries. They are all receiving treatment at a local hospital.
