China sets timetable for postgrad entrance exam

Chinese college graduates have to take written exams to enter postgraduate schools. The exams are usually held in January.

Applicants are required to finish online registration from Oct. 10 to Oct. 31, 2014 and go to test sites to collect personal information ahead of the exam, according to the statement.

Candidates with excellent performance in their specialized subjects are allowed to take a re-examination, usually an oral interview, despite failure in exams for political theory or English, it added.

Students prepare for the coming national postgraduate entrance examination at Binzhou University in East China's Shandong province, on Jan 2. The test is scheduled to begin on Jan 4 and culminates on Jan 6. Test takers sitting in one room answer different questions, and their scores are adjusted to the level of difficulty of the questions.
