A young man died after pushing his girlfriend to save her from an oncoming truck carrying 40 tons on Oct 2 in Xinyang, Henan province. The woman was bringing him home for the first time to meet her parents, cnr.cn reported.

An article posted on eastday.com called for the country to close scenic spots during the annual golden week. About 175,000 visitors flocked to Imperial Palace on one day during this National Day holiday, raising concerns over the impact on cultural relics, it said. Forest for the temples

Forests have been destroyed for the construction of two temples in Heilongjiang province, meant to cash in on the booming tourism business generated by the forests. Neither of the two projects, coming at the cost of Maoer Mountain in Harbin, received approval. They are being built by the local government of Maoer township and Northeast Forestry University.
