A senior official of the discipline inspection department in Nanjing in East China's Jiangsu province, met with netizens on Tuesday and told them he uses micro blogs to get information and communicate with the public, Yangtze Evening News reported.

Long Xiang, chief of the city's disciplinary department, also gave his mobile phone number to the netizens at the media open day, so that they can contact him directly.

The 28 netizens, selected from more than 100 applicants, were invited to visit the city government's service center, which opened on Oct 31, 2011.

Long said he "dived" into the Internet every day to get information and gauge residents' thinking.

Besides using "zhongshan qingfeng", the verified micro blog account of the department, Long said he pays attention to hot social issues by using a private micro blog account. He said he started to work with new media about six years ago, according to the report.

He also told local media that residents who have problems can send online messages to the department's micro blog account, or send text message to his cellphone.

Long said he received more than 4,000 letters every year and will try to solve residents' problems by himself.
