A female model in Beijing has been sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for one year, for posting indecent photos of herself online and claiming she was a policewoman, Beijing Times reported on Tuesday.
Wang, 23, a native of Henan province who was working as a model in Beijing, posted photos of herself in a police uniform on her micro blog on July 2. She wrote on the blog that she was under a lot of pressure as a policewoman, and claimed she often had to accompany the bosses for meals and take part in talks seeking investment. The pictures of Wang depicted her posing provocatively in a police uniform, black stockings and a bikini.
Wang's photos attracted the attention of netizens who thought her behavior damaged the image of the police.
A police investigation found that Wang, who lives in Beijing's Fengtai district, is an amateur model. She later confessed that she posted the photos to get public attention.
The court said it took Wang's good attitude and guilty plea into account when sentencing.
