School fire extinguished in NE China

CHANGCHUN - A fire at a middle school was put out Sunday afternoon in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin province, and no casualties have been reported, said rescuers.

Around 2:20 pm Sunday, the fire broke out on the top floor of the comprehensive building of Jilin Provincial Experimental Middle School, which was undergoing a project to install a layer of insulation, firefighters said.

Faculty quickly directed students and some parents, who were there for parents' meetings, out of the burning building.

As of 4:00 pm Sunday, the fire had been extinguished.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
