The China Pavilion is one of the most exciting ones at Expo Milano 2015, Expo Commissioner of the Italian Government Giuseppe Sala said on Saturday.

"The pavilion, in my opinion, is one of the most exciting, internally and also for the architecture. The design is fantastic," Sala said.

China was able to fully interpret the exposition's theme - "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" - which focuses on sustainable and healthy nutrition for everybody in the world, he said.

"Then, of course, young people prefer to have a visit based on a strong technology, and the China pavilion also provides a beautiful interpretation of technology," Sala said.

In his view, the experience obtained at Expo Shanghai 2010 paved the way for China's pavilion success at Expo Milano.

"At the end of our exposition, there will be some prizes given to different pavilions for their characteristics, and I would guess the China pavilion will get some prizes," Sala told Xinhua News Agency.

The pavilion, China's first self-built overseas pavilion and also the second-largest foreign structure at Expo Milano - only Germany's is larger - opened to the public on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Chinese and Italian guests.

Themed "Land of Hope, Food for Life", the pavilion's design evokes rippling wheat. Inside are exhibits on agricultural history, food culture and the future of the world. The "Field of Hope" consists of 20,000 shining artificial wheat straws.

The China Pavilion covers an area of 4,590 square meters. The other two Chinese exhibitors at the Expo are China Corporate United and residential real estate developer Vanke.

Expo Milano is hosting more than 140 countries and organizations. The exposition will continue through Oct 31.
