Thai government 'still functioning' despite martial law

BANGKOK - The Thai army's declaration of martial law on Tuesday has no impact on a caretaker government which is still in office, an army spokesman said.

"This martial law is just to restore peace and stability. It has nothing to do with the government, the government is still functioning as normal,"  said Colonel Winthai Suvari,deputy army spokesman.
