Inner Mongolia's first ethnology and anthropology institute opens

Inner Mongolia's first institute of advanced study on ethnology and anthropology was set up in Inner Mongolia Normal University in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region on March 28.

The Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences unveiled its research and training base in the university on the same day.

Based on the ethnology and anthropology research resources and advantages of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Inner Mongolia Normal University's ethnology and anthropology institute will organize a research team with experts and scholars both at home and abroad and start to work on a batch of study topics in the field.

Inner Mongolia Normal University will spare no effort to support this institute and to push research on ethnology and anthropology, said Yun Guohong, president of Inner Mongolia Normal University.

The institute aims to provide advice and intelligent support for the autonomous region's policy-making and to develop think-tanks in ethnology and anthropology studies.

"The Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor have brought new opportunities for Inner Mongolia, as an important northward bridgehead of China," said Yun, "but also brought new tasks and topics for our ethnology and anthropology research," he added.
