'Sense of gain' shows China's progress in economic and social fields

Education

Xi in 2013 said China needed to deepen the reform of the education sector, create innovative teaching methods, and establish an environment to help talent grow.

In 2012, China reached its goal of earmarking four percent of GDP into education fund and maintained the goal above four percent in the following years.

In the 13th Five-Year Plan, education fees will be lowered to help more poor students to complete high school education or vocational education.

The State Council, China's cabinet, issued guidelines to promote the country's balanced development of education so as to narrow the gap between urban and rural education resources in July.
