BEIJING - President Xi Jinping instructed youth organizations to better unite young people and firmly follow the Party.

A total of 1,311 members of the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) and 538 deputies to the All-China Students' Federation (ACSF) attended congress held every 5 years in Beijing on Friday morning.

In a congratulation letter to the congress, President Xi stressed that the ACYF and ACSF should keep improving themselves and better exercise their duties to connect to young people.

The two organizations are part of the "mass organizations" of the Communist Party of China (CPC) which represent people from different lines of work or age groups.

Chinese youth should bear the responsibility for the country's future, the nation's fate and people's welfare, Xi said.

He urged them to develop themselves in line with the needs of the Party and people, aim high, nurture virtue and skills and be brave.

He also ordered Party and government departments to create a favorable environment for young people and support them to display and apply their talent and passion.

Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice-President Li Yuanchao attended the congress.

Extending his congratulations in a speech on behalf of the CPC, Li said he expects young people to follow Xi's instructions, consolidate their faith and work hard for the realization of the Chinese dream.

At the congress, the ACYF and ACSF will review their work over the past five years and plan for the next five, revise their charters and elect new leadership. The ACSF will decide its emblem.
