The sixth China-Japan-ROK leaders' meeting started Sunday in Seoul after a three-and-a-half-year suspension.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Park Geun-hye are also scheduled to jointly meet with the press and attend a business summit.

The China-Japan-ROK meeting had taken place annually from 2008 to 2012 before it bogged down due to Japanese moves over historical and territorial issues that angered both China and the ROK.

The resumption came as relations between Japan and the two neighbors have started thawing. It also followed active coordination of the ROK, the rotating host of the sixth gathering.

In a recent press briefing, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said the renewal of the trilateral summitry is of great significance to regional peace and stability, as well as Asian and global economic development.
