BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping was invited by British Prime Minister David Cameron to a local pub during his state visit to Britain weeks ago. They didn't expect that the beer sipping has sparked a sales storm in China.
Within two days of the bar invitation of Cameron, all types of business have been desperate for the Greene King IPA beer, including agents hotels, bars and restaurants, according to the Guardian.
Peter Bloxham, a Beijing-based British beer dealer who imports Greene King beer to China normally imported 6,000 bottles of Greene King IPA into China each month. The number will be fixed to at least 80,000 bottles next month, said Bloxham.
Cameron invited Xi to the Plough at Cadsden pub in Buckinghamshire and had a pint of the IPA beer, hoping to seal a "golden era" of relations between Beijing and London, said the local media.
The unexpected consequence of sales soar comes after the well-known bar scene of the two top leaders, as Xi's visit has not only caught eyes of people from the two countries but also Chinese businessmen.
