China's flood donation proof of close ties: Malaysia PM

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday that the Chinese government's donation to assist the country to overcome floods is proof of close bilateral relations between the two countries.

He expressed his appreciation for the Chinese government's kind gesture at the press conference after the presentation of flood relief aids from China to Malaysian government.

Najib said that the donation includes 2,950 tents, 220 generator sets of 5 Kw and 3 Kw, 400 water pumps, 45 water hose reels and 60 water purification devices.

The Chinese government will also donate 400 temporary houses soon, he added.

He said that the donation will come in three phases, with the first phase received today, and the second and third phases will follow soon.

Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang said that China decided to give assistance to Malaysia due to the strong relations between the two countries, adding that China is willing to share its experience and expertise in dealing with the natural disasters with Malaysia.
