TBILISI -- Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Yue Bin and Tamar Beruchashvili, newly appointed Georgian Foreign Minister, held talks here Tuesday on the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative.

The belt initiative was brought forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Kazakhstan last September,to revive the ancient Silk Road from China via Central Asia and Russia to Europe.

During the meeting, Yue expressed China's readiness to join hands with Georgians in materializing the initiative.

It was the first meeting between the Chinese ambassador and the new Georgian foreign minister, who took office last month after her predecessor resigned.
