Art beat in August

American artist Herb Williams makes sculptures from crayons: bound, cut and melted. Secret Spectrum presents about 100 pieces of his works at Jing’an Kerry Center. Most of the exhibits are sculptures, with some graF ti paintings, photos and a kaleidoscope installation thrown into the mix. The sculptures often depict animals made from thousands of crayons in bright colors and compact compositions.

Born in 1975, Maksim Mrvica began learning piano at age nine. By 2000, he had become one of Croatia’s most famous pianists, and has since released nine albums. A large part of his appeal is his new take on well-known classical pieces, which has gained him a large international following in recent years.
