Zhao Liping, vice-chairman of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region's political consultative body, has been charged with intentional homicide, bribery, illegal possession of firearms and storing explosives, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Wednesday.

Zhao was accused of killing his 28-year-old mistress in Chifeng city after she threatened to expose the graft, according to a March report by Beijing Times. The woman was stabbed and shot in suburban Chifeng, and her body was burned.

"After concluding the investigation by the Inner Mongolia autonomous region's People's Procuratorate, we have transferred the case to a designated prosecuting department, the Taiyuan city People's Procuratorate for prosecution," a statement from the top court said.

According to an indictment, Zhao used his job at the region's public security department to gain benefits for others and accepted their bribes. He also was accused of violating Party regulations on firearms and explosives.

On March 21, Zhao was captured by police in northwestern Chifeng and the police confiscated gun from his car.
