Beijing Foreign Studies University launched its official website in 15 foreign languages on Sunday and will launch versions in another 35 languages before the end of the month, Zhao Min, deputy Party chief of the university said.

The initiative was taken to help the university, which currently offers courses in more than 70 languages, to enroll students from across the globe, according to Zhao.

As one of the most important foreign studies universities in the country, BFSU plans to extend its courses to cover more than 100 languages by 2020 to better serve the country’s needs in external communications, as well as to serve the Belt and Road Initiative, he said.

Peng Long, president of BFSU, said the establishment of the Global Consortium of Foreign Studies Universities, which calls on foreign studies universities across the world to join, is intended to promote exchanges among universities and nurture high-level, internationalized talent.
