Deadly arrogance of 'The Grey Lady'

(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2015-01-04 16:06

In The Record of the Paper: How the New York Times Misreports US Foreign Policy, Howard Friel and Richard Falk pointed out that the NYT held the viewpoints that the foreign policies of the US were not influenced by the International Law for the past half century.

It is evidenced by the fact that during the period from the "9•11" terrorist attack to March 21, 2003 when the US started the Iraq War, "The Grey Lady" never mentioned the Charter of the United Nations or the international law in over 70 editorials it published.

Moreover, in coverage of China's Tibet and Xinjiang, the NYT called white black, turning a blind eye to basic journalist ethics. As for India, a country hailed by the US as a democratic country, the NYT also see it in a biased way: when India sent its spacecraft into the orbit of the Mars, the NYT pictured the Asian country as a farmer clad in traditional costume along with his cow that knocks on the door of the so-called Space Elite Club represented by two rich white men in a caricature.
