Students given a British lesson

About 20 Chinese families attended an event in Beijing on Sunday for students to learn about living and studying in Britain.

The event consisted of games and lectures, through which students and their parents were told, among other things, how to cook a British dish, how to behave in a British classroom and how to act while having dinner in the UK.

Wang Lingyi, from Beijing who has just been accepted by Coventry University as a postgraduate student after studying on a local pre-master’s program for a year, said it was a fresh experience for him and he learned many new things.

"I'm shy and like staying with my Chinese friends. I seldom have the courage to explore and learn British culture by myself," the 24-year-old said. "Now at least I've learned how to cook British roast chicken and I would like to try this when I return to the UK."

The event was organized by UK company BeGo.
