First Databank, a global provider of drug databases, said on Jan 21 it established a partnership with the Hong Kong and Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospitals, two private hospitals located on Hong Kong Island and the New Territories, respectively.
FDB's International Drug Knowledge base will be integrated with the hospitals' pharmacy systems as part of a system to improve the safety of patients.
FDB will provide clinicians with tailored warning messages on potential drug interactions and duplicate therapy during the prescribing and dispensing processes.
FDB's drug database will further support medical staff by enabling them to access detailed drug information electronically instead of consulting reference books.
The comprehensive information, which includes dosing, side effects and drug indications, will be available while performing error-prone tasks like prescribing and dispensing drugs.
