Top political advisor meets Ecuadorian legislator

BEIJING - China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met with Rocio Valarezo Ordonez, second deputy president of the National Assembly of Ecuador, on Monday afternoon.

"The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, is ready to conduct exchanges and cooperation at all levels and in all forms with the Ecuadorian National Assembly," said Jia, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

He said the Chinese side attaches great importance to relations with Ecuador and is ready for further cooperation in all areas.

Valarezo echoed Jia, saying the national assembly will further enhance its communication with the CPPCC and actively promote Ecuador-China relations.

With regards to bilateral relations, Jia said the two countries have maintained good communication and cooperation on global and regional affairs. China appreciates Ecuador's understanding and support on issues related to Taiwan, Tibet and human rights.

He stressed the important influence Ecuador, a major Latin American country, has on international and regional issues, and spoke highly of the country's achievements in social and economic development.

China and Ecuador are both developing countries working toward economic growth and improvements in people's livelihood. Enhancing their reciprocal cooperation is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples, Jia said.

Valarezo said Ecuador attaches great importance to relations with China and hopes to learn from China's development experience. Ecuador is ready to further deepen the countries' cooperation in all areas.

On Sunday afternoon, Bai Lichen, a senior political advisor, also met with Valarezo.
