Six men attempted to hijack a flight on Friday, just minutes after take off, but were thwarted by passengers and flight crew, Tianshannet, a local website reported.
The six attempted to take control of flight GS7554 just 10 minutes after it took off from Hotan Airport at 12:25 pm en route to Urumqi, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Several crew members and passengers were slightly injured in the melee before the plane returned safely to the airport, according to the public security department of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
The six men have been arrested by police and an investigation is underway. No other details were immediately available.
