On the eve of the Year of the Monkey, I am very pleased to extend my best wishes to the Chinese people. While visiting China, last year, His Majesty King Philippe stressed the importance of continuously building ever closer relations between our two peoples to realize a peaceful and harmonious world. In 2016 we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belgium and China. I therefore sincerely hope the Year of the Monkey will provide us with a wide range of high level occasions and unexpected opportunities to aim for the sky and establish new connections while nurturing existing ones.
