Pakistan shoots down Indian spy drone: media

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistan army on Wednesday claimed to have shot down an Indian spy drone for violating territorial boundaries and for suspicious activities in the Pakistan administered area of Jammu and Kashmir, local media reported.

Local Urdu TV channel Express News, quoting the Pakistan army's mouth piece the - Inter Services Public Relations - said that the Indian drone was shot down in the Bhimber sector of Jammu and Kashmir for violating the Line of Control (LOC).

The LOC divides the two countries in the disputed Kashmir region.

The Indian drone was taking pictures of different sites in the area when it was shot down by the army deployed in the sector, according to the report.

"An Indian spy drone was shot down by Pakistani troops which intruded into Pakistan along the LOC near Bhimber today. The spy drone is used for aerial photography," the TV channel quoted an army statement as saying.

Pakistan's foreign ministry has also summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad to lodge protest over the LOC violation by the Indian spy drone, it reported.
