SEOUL -- South Korea on Tuesday reported three more cases of infection with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), bringing the total contagion cases to 175 since the first case was identified on May 20, the health ministry said.

No death was added, leaving the death toll at 27, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Four more patients were discharged from hospitals as they completely recovered after being infected. The total number of those discharged increased to 54.

The patient 14, called super spreader as he infected nearly 80 people, was also discharged from a hospital.

The 109th patient, 39, bore a son overnight through a Caesarean section. The woman had already recovered from the infectious disease after being infected while having been pregnant.

Excluding the hospital discharge and the dead, 94 patients are under treatment. Among them, 16 are in unstable conditions.

The number of those quarantined declined from 3,833 on Monday to 2,805 on Tuesday.
