Chinese-owned enterprises robbed in Suriname

PARAMARIBO, Suriname - Two Chinese-owned enterprises have been robbed, leaving one Chinese employer injured, the Chinese Embassy here confirmed Sunday.

The offices of the two Chinese-owned enterprises were cleaned out in the robberies, and the armed robbers assailed Chinese employers, Shi Yuanqiang, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Suriname, told Xinhua.

The embassy has urged the Surinamese government to investigate the cases and arrest the suspects as soon as possible, and take concrete measures to ensure the security of Chinese citizens and institutions in Suriname.
