After a whole-day of competition, 10 high school and college teams for both segments stood out from 50 teams qualifying for the regional finals and will compete against teams from four other divisions – Shanghai, Guangzhou, Harbin and Chengdu – for national titles in November.

Winning teams in the national final will be awarded prize money and a trip to the United States for exchanges on scientific research and invention, sponsored by Samsung Electronics Co.

Initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the annual contest attracted more than 7,224 teams from 1,016 high schools and colleges in regional preliminaries since kicking off its third year in May.

A series of online and on-site promotion activities such as the National Youth Scientific Invention Competition, an entry-level equivalent of the “Solve for Tomorrow” contest for a wider-range of sci-tech enthusiasts, have been staged at the National Stadium as well as lectures by experts.

Approximate 100 inventions will be generated from the preliminary stage of the competition, which was launched in July and received 3,466 proposals from participants aged from 10 to 35.
