67 contestants to take part in innovation and entrepreneurship contest in Xi'an

The final contest for innovation and entrepreneurship kicked off on Thursday in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, aimed at promoting the national innovation and entrepreneurship drive proposed by Premier Li Keqiang.

The contest was launched by Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau and the Administration Committee of Xi'an High-tech Development Zone and has attracted more than 1,000 young entrepreneurs from across the country, according to Wu Haichao, deputy director of the bureau.

Wu said that 67 winners from preliminary and semi-final contests held in past four months would take part in the final event held on Thursday and Friday in Xi'an high-tech development zone and the final top 12 will be awarded, including fund supporting, exclusive services and preferential policies.

The contest was launched on April 13 and the participants brought 951 venture projects to compete and the projects involved such sectors as Internet and mobile Internet, electronic information, advanced manufacturing, biological medicine, new materials, new energy and energy-saving as well as environmental protection.

"The top winners will get governmental support for their projects, support for the declaration of intellectual property and free promotion for their products," said Wang Bin, deputy director of the zone's administration committee.
