Blues skies smiling at Beijing

Residents in Beijing may see clear blue skies next week due to advantageous weather dispersing pollutants, the China Metrological Administration said on Friday.

Slight smog may occur on July 7 and 8 due to windless weather, but the blue skies and good air quality will return July 9 and remain for four days because the cold-core eddy is back, Wang Weiguo, a senior engineer at the National Climate Center said on Friday.

The cold-core eddy is advantageous weather that disperses air pollutants because it usually brings wind and rainfall, he said, adding that it usually affects the northeastern and northern regions of China.
