Serbia will continue to stick to the one-China policy, said Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic in a conference on cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC), which was held in Beijing on Thursday.

Dacic is in China for an official five-day visit that started Wednesday.

Addressing the conference, co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Secretariat of China-CEEC Cooperation, Dacic said China has always firmly supported Serbia in issues of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Serbia is likely to become a regional center for trade as the Belt and Road Initiative is implemented step-by-step.

China and Serbia have been cooperating closely in fields of infrastructure and transportation.

In April, a steel company in Hebei province signed a deal to purchase Smederevo Steelworks in Serbia.

Chinese investment supported the construction of Serbia's Zemun-Borca Bridge, which opened to traffic in 2014.

Also, the two countries along with Hungary are working together to construct a railway connecting Serbian capital Belgrade and Hungarian capital Budapest.
