BELGRADE - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed here on Wednesday evening that he will meet his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on the margins of the 22nd Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), adding that "he will be disappointed if there is nothing new to hear".

Lavrov and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic held a joint press conference upon Lavrov's landing. Lavrov confirmed that he is going to meet Turkish FM during his stay in Belgrade where he is going to participate in the OSCE Ministerial Council on December 3-4.

Diplomatic relations between Russia and Turkey became sour after a Russian warplane was shot down near the Turkish-Syrian border by Turkish forces. As an answer to the incident, Russia imposed economic sanctions.
